As I was driving home sometime after midnight on Sunday I heard some disturbing news. I was listening to the Drudge Report show when one of his contacts from LA called in on the studio line. She gave the news that Christopher Reeve had died. I almost drove off of the road when I heard this. Superman is dead?

For a long time Drudge was the only one reporting it. And then it slowly hit the mainstream that Christopher Reeve was in fact dead.

Superman has always held a special place in my heart. When I was growing up I would play Superman. I would fight for "Truth Justice and the American Way". I mean what kid didn't pretend he could fly at one point or another? He was the true original superhero. And Christopher Reeve will always be Superman to me. Even if Hollywood decides to desecrate thos memories for a quick buck, they can never take away the memories that I have.

I remember the day that I heard about Reeves accident. It made me very sad even though I was young. Since that time I have always admired Reeve for his strength of character and of person. Not only did he do some of the hardest work of his career by traveling to raise money for spinal chord research. But he continued to work on films.

I had always hoped that someday before he died they would be able to heal him so he could walk again. I guess it wasn't a very realistic hope considering that spinal chord research has been going on for over 30 years with very little progress. But I continued to hope, I knew Mr. Reeve would fight until his last day. Afterall he is Superman.
