Now is their chance!!

Quick now's their chance! Democrats should seize this opportunity to sharpen their critique of the war and call for a Vietnam like pull out from the Middle East. Osama Bin Laden has released another tape to the Al Jazeera network. It's been over a year since we've heard from the Failing Kidney Terrorist and for the most part it was the same stuff as usual. There was lots of "your security measures cannot stop us" and "by Allah we will blow up your stuff" blah blah blah.

But then came the interesting part, the part that the Dems can use to re-live the 60's. Apparently Osama pays attention to US opinion polls. Check out this bit of his speech:
Documents have recently showed that the butcher of freedom in the world [US President Bush] had planned to bomb the head office of al-Jazeera Space Channel in the state of Qatar after he bombed its offices in Kabul and Baghdad, although despite its defects, it is [Al-Jazeera] one of your creations.

Jihad is continuing, praise be to God, despite all the repressive measures the US army and its agents take to the point where there is no significant difference between these crimes and those of Saddam.

These crimes include the raping of women and taking them hostage instead of their husbands.
And this
If you compare the small number of the dead when Bush made that false and stupid show-like announcement from an aircraft carrier on the end of the major operations, to many times as much as this number of the killed and injured, who fell in the minor operations, you will know the truth in what I am saying, and that Bush and his administration do not have neither the desire nor the will to withdraw from Iraq for their own dubious reasons.

To go back to where I started, I say that the results of the poll satisfy sane people and that Bush's objection to them is false.

Reality testifies that the war against America and its allies has not remained confined to Iraq, as he claims.

In fact, Iraq has become a point of attraction and recruitment of qualified resources.
Amazing how many Liberal anti-war talking points are in there, no? Bush isn't just in Iraq for the war on terror(no blood for oil), Bush is as bad as Saddam, Iraq is no better off, we are creating more terrorists by being in Iraq, our soldiers are nothing but rapists and murderers, you could save yourself a lot of money and time if you pull out of Afghanistan/Iraq, and it's Bush's fault that we're having this war at all. This guy is good, he could write headlines for the New York Times. Heck he sounds more sane than Harry Belafonte.

And he goes even further than that. He plays even more directly to the Jack Murtha/Cindy Sheehan crowd:
We do not object to a long-term truce with you on the basis of fair conditions that we respect.

We are a nation, for which God has disallowed treachery and lying.

In this truce, both parties will enjoy security and stability and we will build Iraq and Afghanistan, which were destroyed by the war.

There is no defect in this solution other than preventing the flow of hundreds of billions to the influential people and war merchants in America, who supported Bush's election campaign with billions of dollars.

Hence, we can understand the insistence of Bush and his gang to continue the war.

If you have a genuine will to achieve security and peace, we have already answered you.

If Bush declines but to continue lying and practicing injustice [against us], it is useful for you to read the book of "The Rogue State", the introduction of which reads: If I were a president, I would halt the operations against the United States.
This is actually a pretty smart move by him. He's echoing calls of Democrats that waging the war in the Middle East was a mistake and we should pull out. He even starts his own reading list so that the terrorists and the Democrats can all be on the same page.

So there you go Jack Murtha. You've got some support for your positions. There you go Mr.Kennedy(sir could you put down the bottle and listen for a sec? Please? Well I'm just gonna keep talking, you can get the gist of it from your aids), if you think that this war has been mismanaged and is illegal then you've got an international figure out there willing to back you up and help you come up with a plan of inaction. Hey Michael Moore you've got some new commentary footage for your next film. I'm serious, if any of you have any doubt that the "get Bush" at all costs regardless of the damage it will do to the country then your doubt should be gone. They have given the biggest terrorist in the world a front in this battle that he can fight on. Yes they have carried water for him, and they have helped his cause. If they want to play Tokyo Rose then they should stand up to be counted with the enemies of America. If they think that supporting our military but not the war means cutting and running now, if they think that we can actually negotiate with OBL, if they think that the Middle East would be better off without a democratic Iraq, or if they think that George W. Bush is as bad as Saddam then now is the time to say so. If the intellectuals in the Media and the universities want to give moral equivilancy to Al Queda and the Taliban then let them speak up.

I value free speech as much as anyone, but I'm also a big fan of taking responsibility for your actions and words. If the leaders of this country, the press, and the interest groups want to go around making irresponsible statements just so they can damage the President's political standing then they shouldn't be afraid to stand up and be counted with the people whom they are actually supporting. I think the Republicans in congress should put up a measure reccomending we negotiate a truce with Osama. If the Democrats want to "support the troops but not the war" then let them put their votes where their mouths are.

In reality this speech is a load of crap(again like the Liberals of this country). He does not really want to negotiate a truce with us. You don't negotiate a truce if you are ready to pull the trigger in an attack that will devastate your enemies. At least you don't if you are a terrorist. The ranks of Al Queda are not swelling with recruits. In fact reports are coming in of Iraqi insurgent terrorists fighting with the imported Al Queda fighters. He's basically doing what Cindy Sheehan does, preen for the press and spout lies and accusations against America and Bush. And the media accomodates him. But one place that he comes out ahead of a lot of the Media and the Michael Moore types in that he actually admits there is a war going on. He admits that he wants to destroy us, meanwhile some of the reporters in our own country won't even call him a terrorist. And he is wrong about the polls as well. Even though Bush's approval ratings are below 50 percent, support for the war in Iraq/Afgahnistan and our troops remains very high. Now if you watched CNN all the time, only read the New York Times and the Washington Post then you wouldn't know this. Which is why it is a good time for everyone to stand up and remember which side they are on. Osama wants to wipe this country and our people off the face of the earth, do we have the resolve to do the same to him? Dick Cheney does
Rejecting a suggestion by Osama bin Laden of a negotiated truce in the war on terror, Vice President Dick Cheney said there was only one way to deal with terrorists. "I think you have to destroy them," Cheney said.
And honestly it's way past time to be picking sides in this fight or to be arguing over if we are actually fighting or not. The biggest mistake is to think that there is a middle ground, which is what the Dems in congress want to do. They want to seem strong against terrorism and yet not support out and out war a la Bush 1 and Clinton and look what that got us Look at where an apathetic middle ground type of approach got us in regards to Iran. Sorry but that's the way it is.
