The basic difference between the conservative and liberal position on global warming is that conservatives want to improve energy efficiency, make it cleaner and more easily accessible. While Libs want us to stop using as energy and preserve the earth.
Conservatives tie cleaner energy to improving the quality of life, we want to invent the next catalytic converter. Libs want everyone to make quality of life sacrifices to save our planet from destruction.
Actually if they are honest, Global Warming is really just a way for Liberals to gain more control over your life. Bill Clinton basically admitted as much in a stump speech in Colorado (via Political Punch ):
Former President Bill Clinton was in Denver, Colorado, stumping for his wife yesterday.
In a long, and interesting speech, he characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: "We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions 'cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren."
At a time that the nation is worried about a recession is that really the characterization his wife would want him making? "Slow down our economy"?
He can talk about saving our grandchildren all he wants, but what does it take to slow down an economy? Control! That is what these socialists libs want. They want to tell you what you can eat, where you can live, where you can work, how much money you can make and why you should feel guilty.
Conservatives think that the only way we will all be successful is if you are in control and have the freedom to decide those things for yourself.
If Libs really cared about the environment they wouldn't do things like leave their gigantic fuel burning, pollutant emitting busses idling outside their "Global Warming Conference".
