Here are some news items that aren't getting the attention they deserve.

Hamid Karzai Sworn in As Afghan President.
You'd think this would be bigger news. Especially since this was the goal we undertook in ousting the Taliban. This should be celebrated as Victory in Afghanistan Day.

Iraq Official Rips Neighbors on Insurgency
This will be the real test. If the fledgling Iraqi government can gain the respect of the nations in the Middle East then Iraqi and American interests will be served well. And this is the first step, getting places like Iran and Syria to take an active role in stopping extremists from their country from attacking Iraq. And it will be a battle, there are many important Islamic figures in Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia who are scared to death of a democratic influence in the Middle East. But they would do well to learn from Pakistan.

I'll take these kinds of allies any day over. France, Russia and Germany have done less to help us fight the war on terror than Pakistan. Is anyone surprised?
